2027: Drop your presidential ambition for Tinubu, ex-minister tells Peter Obi

A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Chief Henry Ikoh, has called on former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to forget his presidential ambition for now in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

The APC chieftain said the call on Obi become necessary as a result of President Tinubu’s achievements in the South East.

Addressing Abia APC party executives from the 17 local government areas on a visit to his county home Easter celebration, Chief Ikoh asked the party executives and other stakeholders in attendance to start mobilising electorates at the grassroots for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a landslide victory in 2027 election.

The Abia state APC governorship aspirant said only aggressive membership drive would reposition the APC for total victory in future elections in the State.

He said: “President Tinubu’s re-election is mandatory. I will call on Peter Obi to also support Tinubu and wait for the turn of the Igbos.

“President Tinubu has performed very well in office and his carrying the region along in his administration,” the APC chieftain said.

The former minister, who is the current Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Imo State, thanked the party leaders at the grassroots for coming to be with him at Easter period.

Chief Ikoh further advised the party leaders and stakeholders to concentrate on building a formidable party with large membership at the grassroots in the state as a strategy to winning the next election, adding that in due course he will respond to the calls for him to contest in the election.

He, however, advised the people to embrace the teachings of Christ by living exemplary life in the society to establish the purpose for which Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for the salvation of mankind.

Some of the sspeakers at the event reminded the former minister of the need to respond to the clamour for him to contest the governorship election in Abia State on the platform of the APC in 2027.
