2027: South-east leaders endorse Atiku’s coalition, begin mobilization

Southeast leaders, under the auspices of the South-east Renaissance Group (SRG), have unanimously endorsed the Coalition arrangement aimed at wresting Power from President Bola Tinubu.
The decision to support the Coalition was reached in Awka, Anambra State during a meeting presided over by former Education Minister, Prof. Chinedu Nebo.
A communique signed by Prof Chinedu Nebo as Chairman and Prof James Okoroma as Secretary, said delegates from the five Southeast States expressed worries about the marginalization of the Igbos in the scheme of things and the need for the people of the Zone to team up with other Nigerians in opposition Parties to effect a democratic change in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Nebo expressed the opinion that the problems of the Igbos were beyond mere political pursuits and struggle for power. He called for concerted efforts to ensure that the Southeast gets a fair share of benefits in the economy, power-sharing and allocation of national resources in the Country.
In another speech, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu stated that the Coalition of Political Parties was the most effective means to change the current Leadership in the Country. He advised the Igbos to move into the Coalition and work with other Nigerians for the
emergence of an all-inclusive political leadership.
The Group resolved to transform into a formidable non-partisan Platform to advance the economic and political interests of the Southeast within the context of a united Nigeria.
Other leading Southeast Leaders who attended the meeting were: two-time Chairman of Awka-South Local Government Council, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Prof. James Okoroma, former Commissioner in Abia State, Comrade Emeka Ikpegbu, former Leader, Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu among others.
