Bauchi records significant strides in harnessing natural resources – Commissioner

Bauchi State commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, has stated that Bauchi State has achieved a lot in harnessing natural resources potentials of the state under the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed.
He stated this while presenting his scorecard in the last one year in the ministry to the newsmen.
He highlighted the ministry’s achievements in the sector to include recruiting 15 new junior staff to address manpower challenges and introducing policies to monitor mining operations with a view to mitigating negative effects, and enforcing environmental protection.
The commissioner said he facilitated the payment of 43 staff in the newly established Bauchi Oil & Gas Academy Alkaleri aimed at creating job opportunities to the state citizens in the oil and gas sector.
In terms of investments, he said Bauchi State has attracted over $2 billion in collaboration with international companies from China and India.
“The state government has also signed agreements with reputable firms to establish a tin/columbite factory in Toro local government worth over $50 million and a 10 million-tonne cement factory.”, he noted.
Bello emphasised the ministry’s role in spearheading sustainable exploration, development and management of the state’s natural resources.
“With these achievements, Bauchi State is poised to become a leading hub for mineral exploitation and economic growth in Nigeria.”, he opined.
