Bayern Munich confirm Jonathan Tah’s arrival

Jonathan Tah has become Bayern Munich’s first signing for next season.
The centre-back, who was on the radar of Barcelona, arrives for free after finishing his contract with Bayer Leverkusen.
One of the biggest transfer sagas of the summer is soon over. Jonathan Tah has become a new Bayern Munich player, with whom he has signed a four-season contract until June 2029.
The new No. 4 of the Bavarian team arrives completely free after finishing his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. This had led to several top clubs, such as Barcelona, being interested in the centre-back, but he has finally preferred to stay in the Bundesliga, where he will take Eric Dier’s place.
“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Tah to Bayern. As an experienced, top-level international player, he brings consistency and quality that will strengthen our defense. He is a key asset for us and has proven he can win titles,” said Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of the German club.
He was also welcomed by Bayern sporting director Max Eberl: “It’s no secret that Tah has been in our sights for a long time. We value his class, he’s a player who takes responsibility. Jonathan received many offers, but he chose Bayern. We are very happy with that.
“I’m very happy to be at Bayern. I want to take responsibility here and work hard every day so that we can be successful as a team and win many titles together,” said Tah himself on the news of his signing.
