Benue youths destroys APC flags during Tinubu’s visit

A video making the rounds on social media has captured a group of angry youths in Benue State tearing down flags bearing the All Progressives Congress (APC) logo, in protest against what they described as an insensitive show of partisanship during a time of mourning.
The incident occurred along the roadside where APC supporters had mounted the party’s flags in anticipation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the state. The president was in Benue to sympathize with families of the over 200 victims reportedly massacred in the Yelewata community and surrounding areas.
In the video, visibly upset young men are seen removing and destroying the APC flags, stating that this is “not the time for campaign but mourning.”
Their actions has gone viral online, with many Nigerians expressing solidarity with the protesters. Critics argue that the decision to mount party flags at such a sensitive time reflects a disconnect between political operatives and the realities on ground.
President Tinubu’s visit comes amid mounting pressure on the federal government to address the rising spate of violence in the state, which has displaced thousands and left many communities devastated.
