Breaking: Former Oyo CJ passes away

Former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Nurudeen Olalekan Adekola, has passed away at the age of 94.

According to reports, the revered jurist died on Wednesday and has since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

Justice Adekola is survived by his wife, Alhaja Sekinat Olapeju Adekola Animashaun, as well as six children and grandchildren.

His distinguished judicial career began in 1977 when he was appointed as a judge of the Oyo State High Court. He served across several judicial divisions, including Ife, Ilesha, Saki, and Ibadan, before being appointed as Acting Chief Judge in 1995. He was later confirmed as the substantive Chief Judge in 1997.

His passing marks the end of an era for the Oyo State judiciary, where he played a pivotal role in upholding justice and legal integrity.
