Buhari commends Tinubu on 2-year anniversary

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on marking his two years anniversary in office, urging Nigerians to support him.
In a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, to commemorate Tinubu’s two years in office on Wednesday, Buhari said while there is cause for celebration, it is also a reminder that leadership is a continuous journey requiring patience and collective effort.
“As the party and the government celebrate, the country should be reminded that leadership is a continuous journey,” the former president said.
He called for “steadfast support” for the APC government, noting that while the reforms being undertaken by the administration are necessary, their impact will be gradual rather than immediate.
“Reforms would achieve success gradually, not overnight,” he said.
Buhari warned that necessary reforms and desired changes must not be derailed by “nettlesome domestic politics.”
He also expressed his support for the government’s efforts to tackle poverty and inflation, noting that the current economic hardship has affected the poorest Nigerians the most.
“The task of reducing poverty and inflation, which is immense, mustn’t be left only for the government. The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” Buhari said.
He urged citizens to remain hopeful, saying, “Nigerians must remain optimistic and stay confident about the country’s future.”
“Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy. I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care,” Buhari added.
