Controversy erupts as singer Terry Apala is arraigned by EFCC

A fresh wave of controversy has hit the Nigerian entertainment scene as popular singer Terry Apala has been officially arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged naira mutilation.
This comes shortly after Terry Apala issued a stern warning to social media critic VeryDarkMan, demanding the removal of a video that allegedly defamed his character. In the now-viral clip, VeryDarkMan had claimed that both Terry Apala and DJ Tunez — a well-known associate of superstar singer Wizkid — were apprehended by the EFCC for naira abuse and later released after allegedly paying a specified amount in U.S. dollars.
Although Terry Apala initially denied the report and threatened legal action, the situation took a new turn when a photo surfaced online showing the singer holding an EFCC charge board, confirming his arraignment for the offense.
The development has since sent the social media abuzz, with netizens divided over the ongoing wave of arrests linked to naira mutilation. While some users expressed disappointment, others mocked the singer for previously denying the claims.
Read some netizens’ reactions below;
Blaise Tony remarked, “Dem dey mutilate naira too? Nothing person no go see for this country”.
Mr Flow asserted, “Okoya’s sons are bigger than EFCC”.
Katty Vera wrote, “You no gree press money na”.
Chuks Dibia wrote, “Welcome to my country where it is more serious offence to spray naira than to loot it. You can see why your leader prefer looting to spraying. And someone like Yahaya Bello will remain untouchable”.
As of the time of this report, DJ Tunez has not made any public statement regarding the allegations.
