Daniel Bwala slams El-Rufai over defection to SDP

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has taken a swipe at former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
El-Rufai officially announced his exit from the APC on Monday, March 10, 2025, citing dissatisfaction with the ruling party and the need to pursue his political aspirations elsewhere. His decision followed months of criticism against the Tinubu administration.
Reacting to the move, Bwala accused El-Rufai of political desperation, suggesting that his alignment with opposition figures was not driven by ideology but by personal ambition.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bwala wrote:
“Senior, @elrufai, I read the news today that you resigned from APC to join SDP. While you have the right to do so, we will soon examine your motive and remind Nigerians that your decision did not come out of nowhere. Associating with sore losers to unseat the president is not an ideology or progressivism—it is simply an ambition doomed to fail.”
El-Rufai’s defection has created mixed reactions online, with many questioning whether his move to the SDP signals a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
