Eid ul-Fitr: Sultan of Sokoto makes official announcement

The new moon of Shawwal 1446AH has been sighted, signaling the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid ul-Fitr celebrations in Nigeria.
The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has announced that Eid al-Fitr for the year 1446/2025 will be celebrated tomorrow, Sunday, March 30, 2025
This development comes just minutes after earlier reports indicated that the crescent had not been sighted in Nigeria. However, fresh confirmations suggest that Muslims in the country will now prepare for Eid celebrations tomorrow following the Sultan’s formal proclamation.
