FCT: We ‘ll secure all Corps members in Abuja, NSCDC assures

The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of safety and security of Youth Corps members deployed to serve in the FCT.
Odumosu, gave the assurance when he granted audience to the NYSC, FCT Coordinator, Mr. Ateli Samson, and his entourage on a courtesy visit.
The Commandant congratulated the NYSC Coordinator on his recent appointment and assured him that the Corps will work closely with him and the NYSC to actualize their set objectives.
He said that protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure is the focal mandate of the NSCDC and as such, the Corps is going to treat the organisation and its members as a valuable national asset.
“I consider the NYSC as Critical National Assets of the Country and for that reason the Corps is ready at all times to give you the needed support and assistance where necessary.
“Your primary goals is; promoting unity, entrepreneurship, and national development, therefore, must be supported in all ramifications including guarantee of security.
The FCT helmsman, said the FCT Command under his watch will continue to deploy credible officers to the NYSC orientation camps to provide security for the Youth Corps members while camping, and even after their three weeks orientation.
“Your visit has given us an added responsibility to assist and support corps members beyond the camp and we will not renege on our promises.
Responding, the NYSC, FCT Coordinator, Mr. Ateli Samson, said the visit was to solicit more support from the NSCDC in the area of security of the Corps members during orientation.
Mr. Ateli Samson, disclosed that there will be back to back orientation for both streams A and B to ensure that they clear up the backlogs.
He lauded the long lasting synergy between the NYSC and the Corps and prayed for it’s continuation and sustenance.
