Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has ordered a thorough investigation into the altercation between Air Peace and Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the Lagos airport on Wednesday.

Keyamo, in a statement on Friday, said he has been in direct contact with both parties since the incident occurred.

“I also directed the aviation agencies to exercise restraint in jumping to conclusions, in line with the time-honoured legal principle of ‘hear all sides’ before reaching judgment,” he wrote on X.

The minister appealed to both sides to stop the public accusations and counter-accusations and directed the relevant agencies to gather evidence and report back to his office.

He said the findings will help guide future conduct in similar situations.

Reports has revealed that the former Governor of Edo State caused a stir at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos after disrupting operations on Wednesday morning.

According to a release issued by a domestic carrier, Air Peace, the airline affected by the incident, Oshiomhole arrived at the airport at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120 scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM.

The boarding process had closed, and the flight departed as scheduled, prompting Oshiomhole to resort to allegedly ‘disrupts’ Lagos Airport.

The senator allegedly physically assaulted Air Peace staff and forcefully barricaded the terminal’s entrance, obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.

Countering Air Peace, Oshiomole narrated how passengers, including himself, were prevented from boarding an Air Peace flight to Abuja despite having checked in online.

He said the commotion at the domestic terminal was sparked by Air Peace’s decision to prevent passengers from boarding while allegedly reselling seats at inflated prices to others on the spot.
