FG orders transparent recruitment in tertiary institutions

The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered for the transparent recruitment process in tertiary institutions across the country.
In a statement by Boriowo Folasade, the Director, Press and Public Relations on Wednesday, the ministry directed all federal tertiary institutions to publicly advertise staff vacancies in at least one national daily newspaper, their websites, and relevant academic journals.
This move aims to ensure a transparent, open, and competitive recruitment process, providing equal opportunities for all eligible Nigerians.
The directive follows the waivers granted to federal tertiary institutions based on their manpower requirements.
The Ministry has put in place mechanisms to ensure compliance and will apply sanctions against any institution that fails to adhere to this directive.
The Federal Ministry of Education remains committed to promoting integrity and fairness in the Nigerian higher education system. This move is part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the capacity of higher education institutions.
In related news, the federal government has offered a 35% salary increase for professors and 23.5% for other university staff. This move aims to boost the morale of academic staff and improve the overall quality of education.
