Flood: 2 decomposed corpses recovered

Some weeks after the Mokwa flood wrecked havoc in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, two more corpses have been recovered.
The flood, which followed a torrential rainfall on May 29, killed over 200 people and displaced over 3,000 residents.
More than 50 houses were also destroyed by the flood.
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency made the development known on Thursday, in a statement in which the Director General of NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, said the recovered corpses were decomposed beyond recognition.
“Two more dead bodies were recovered today at the downstream of the bridge.
“Yesterday’s rains that flowed along the water channel washed away sand dunes that covered the dead bodies.
“The dead bodies were decomposed beyond recognition,” Baba-Arah said.
The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, who represented Governor Mohammed Bago at an event on Tuesday disclosed that more than 700 people were still missing from the flood.
