Galatasaray coach opens up on Osimhen next move

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has dismissed recent reports suggesting Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has agreed to join Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal, insisting the player remains committed to the Turkish champions — at least for now.
Widespread speculation earlier this week, amplified by reports from Sky Sports, claimed Osimhen had reached a sensational agreement with Al Hilal and his parent club Napoli, with a mega-money deal reportedly in the works. The Saudi club is said to be ready to table a three-year contract worth €120 million for the 25-year-old striker, pending government approval.
But Buruk has now poured cold water on the rumours, stating in an interview with I Just Spoke, as quoted by NTV Spor, that no such agreement has been made and Osimhen has not yet made a final decision about his next move.
“Osimhen will look at the conditions,” Buruk said. “He is very happy here at Galatasaray. He is living the best days of his life. The player will decide about his future. He made an incredible contribution here. We need to respect him, but we are hopeful that he will stay with us.”
“He is a professional player. There are talks about it, but Osimhen will make the choice. He will look at the conditions. The part about Osimhen agreeing with the Arabian side is not true.”
Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in electrifying form this season, scoring 36 goals and providing 8 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. His performances have been instrumental to Galatasaray’s league title win, especially in the absence of Mauro Icardi due to injury.
The Nigerian international, who played a key role in helping Napoli clinch their first Serie A title in over 30 years during the 2022/23 season with 31 goals, remains under contract with the Italian side until 2025. His deal reportedly includes a €75 million (£63 million) release clause.
While Al Hilal may have offered a tempting package, several Premier League clubs — including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal — are also keeping a close watch on the prolific forward’s situation.
For now, Galatasaray are holding onto hope that Osimhen, who has quickly become a fan favourite in Istanbul, will opt to remain with them as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
