JAMB speaks on extension of 2025 UTME registration deadline

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed that the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will officially close on March 8, 2025, with no possibility of an extension.
This confirmation was made in a statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., JAMB’s Public Affairs Controller, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the set deadline.
JAMB disclosed that since the registration exercise commenced on February 3, 2025, over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered. While this aligns with the Board’s projections, there has been a noticeable decline in registration numbers in recent days.
The Board urged prospective candidates to register early and avoid the usual last-minute rush, stressing that its examination calendar is fixed and coordinated with other education stakeholders. Any delay or extension, JAMB noted, would disrupt subsequent processes, including examinations, result management, and admissions exercises.
“We strongly encourage candidates to complete their registration as soon as possible, adhering to the established timeline for the 2025 UTME,” the statement read.
JAMB reiterated that there will be no extension beyond the March 8 deadline, urging all eligible candidates to take necessary action immediately to complete their registration.
