Juventus set to end Guardiola’s perfect Club World Cup record

Pep Guardiola is the most decorated manager in the Club World Cup.
He holds the record for most titles (four) but has also won all ten matches he’s managed in the competition. Furthermore, he boasts a run of eight consecutive games without conceding a single goal. However, Juventus, who have already beaten his side this year, threaten to tarnish his impressive statistics.
If we talk about coaches and the Club World Cup, Pep Guardiola stands as the absolute king of the competition. He has four titles (2009, 2011, 2013, and 2023), more than anyone else. But it’s not just about the titles. His iron fist dominance means he can boast of having won all ten matches played in the tournament. Now, Juventus raises the bar higher than ever.
Thus, the highly anticipated final clash for the top spot in Group G also carries a statistical background for the Catalan coach, who has the most wins in this championship, now in its 32-team format.
Carlo Ancelotti, the second coach with the most trophies (3) after him, also boasts a perfect record of victories in his six Club World Cup matches, but he is still far from Guardiola, who can also boast of currently stringing together eight matches without conceding a single goal.
In his first Club World Cup, managing Barcelona, both Atlante and Estudiantes scored against him in the semi-final (1-3) and the final (1-2), respectively. Since those goals by Guillermo Rojas and Mauro Boselli in 2009, no one has managed to score against him. Not in his other edition as ‘Azulgrana’, nor in the subsequent one with Bayern Munich, nor in the last two with Manchester City.
A sublime statistic for the Sky Blues, who will face a Juventus side that has not only beaten Al-Ain (0-5) and Wydad Casablanca (4-1), but this season was already capable of defeating Manchester City in the Champions League. It was a 2-0 win with Vlahovic and McKennie in the midst of the ‘Citizen’s’ decline in the League Phase.
All of Guardiola’s results in the Club World Cup:
