Kidnappers abduct 5 travellers on busy Nigerian highway

On the evening of April 30, 2025, a terrifying incident unfolded along the Ugwuogo Nike by Opi Nsukka Express road in Enugu State, as armed kidnappers abducted several people in broad daylight.
Eyewitnesses, who shared the distressing incident online, reported that more than five individuals were taken from two vehicles – a mini white bus and a Sienna.
A viral video captured the aftermath of the abduction, showing some of the victims who managed to escape, running into the nearby bush during the attack. In the video, these individuals were seen emerging from the forest shortly after the kidnappers fled, visibly shaken but unharmed.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by the police or relevant authorities regarding the incident. The motive behind the kidnapping, as well as the identities of the victims, remain unclear.
The disturbing trend of abductions continues to plague various parts of Nigeria, with residents and commuters now living in fear of potential future attacks.
