In the 89th minute, Vinicius asked to be substituted after playing a few minutes with muscular discomfort, but the first check by the club’s doctors in the away dressing room at La Cartuja confirmed that the discomfort was due to exhaustion and he is not suffering from an injury, sources at the club told EFE.

Worse news for Frenchman Mendy, who re-injured himself on his return to the field of play. After overcoming a muscle tear in his left leg that had kept him out since 12 March, he injured his right leg eight minutes into the final. He suffered an injury to the quadriceps in his right leg.

The exact extent of the injury will be known on Sunday or Monday when he undergoes an MRI scan at Ciudad Real Madrid, tests that will also be carried out on Rudiger, who withdrew with knee discomfort, and Ceballos, who has an ankle pain.
