Man accuses police of turning his stolen car to patrol vehicle

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to demand justice after discovering that his car, which was stolen in 2015, is now being used by the Nigeria Police as a patrol vehicle.
In a post shared via X (formerly Twitter), the man narrated how the car was stolen outside a church in Warri, Delta State, only for him to later find it in police custody — not as recovered property, but repurposed as an official patrol car.
According to him, the incident occurred in 2015 when he attended a church program and parked his vehicle nearby. After the service, he returned to find that his car had vanished. He immediately reported the theft to the police and submitted all relevant documents, including the vehicle’s papers.
However, two years later in 2017, the man said he was shocked to see his missing car now in use by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
“I’m a citizen of Nigeria, I live in Warri, Delta State,” he said in the video. “The picture in my hand is of my car. I went to a church program in 2015, and when it ended, I came out to find that my car was gone.”
“I searched everywhere and couldn’t find it, so I reported the theft to the police. They asked for my car papers, which I provided. Then in 2017, I saw my exact car — same features, everything — being used by police officers as a patrol vehicle.”
The man also shared a video detailing his experience and appealing to the relevant authorities to intervene and return his vehicle.
As of now, the police have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
