Man allegedly kills baby during fight with wife

A heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through a Lagos community after a domestic altercation between a couple reportedly led to the tragic death of their baby.
According to a viral video circulating on social media, the infant died after being struck by an object allegedly thrown by the father during a heated argument with his wife.
The man, identified only as Ola, was said to have been quarrelling with his wife when he allegedly hurled an object at her, aiming for her head. However, the object reportedly missed the intended target and struck their baby instead, killing the child instantly.
In the video, an unidentified female neighbour—speaking in Yoruba—claimed that this wasn’t the first time such a tragedy had occurred in the couple’s home. She alleged that the same pattern of violence led to the loss of their first child during a previous pregnancy.
According to her, the wife had once carried a nine-month pregnancy, which was also lost after a brutal episode of domestic violence. The neighbour expressed deep concern, stating that the man’s actions have now led to the death of two children.
The disturbing revelation has created outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for justice and urging authorities to step in. Social media users have condemned the recurrent abuse and questioned why the woman remained in the toxic environment despite previous trauma.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the police or local authorities, but calls are growing louder for the matter to be fully investigated and for the responsible party to be brought to book.
