NDLEA arrests wanted trafficker in Lagos over N1.4b recovered illicit substances

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has just made a major breakthrough in its fight against illicit substance trafficking.
After 17 years of hiding, the agency has finally arrested a wanted 59-year-old illicit substance baron, Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff, in his hideout in Ojo area of Lagos.
According to NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa, Ogbonnaya is not just a domestic illicit substance baron, but an international trafficker operating both from Nigeria and abroad.
He’s been linked to multiple illicit substance trafficking offenses in South Korea and has been orchestrating operations remotely, using illicit substance mules and domestic suppliers spread across several African countries.
The arrest is a significant achievement for the NDLEA, which has been working tirelessly to dismantle illicit substance trafficking syndicates operating within the country.
Ogbonnaya’s arrest is also an affirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to ensuring that the country does not serve as a base for international drug trafficking operations.
Ogbonnaya dispatched 6,051.06 grams of skunk to South Korea in October 2023, concealed in dried chillies and jujube. He also directed his illicit substance couriers to smuggle five kilograms of methamphetamine into South Korea via overseas flights between December 2023 and April 2024.
Furthermore, he has been linked to multiple African countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Liberia, and has been working with international partners to traffic illicit illicit substances.
