NSCDC arrests 12 suspected vandals in FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command has announced the arrest of 12 suspected vandals at different locations in the FCT during the Sallah celebrations.
According to a press release signed by DSC Monica Ojobi, FCT CDPRO Ag, the suspects were arrested by the Tactical Squad of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of the FCT Command during routine patrols.
The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, PhD, said, “You know, these criminals take advantage of festive season to perpetrate their heinous acts, we are not unaware of their tactics, the reason we man tighter surveillance during celebration period to beat them at their game.”
The commandant expressed disappointment that vandals were sabotaging government efforts to provide essential facilities for citizens, saying, “It is disheartening that the Federal Government and the FCT Administration under the leadership of Bar. Nyesome Wike, are practically demonstrating their own part by providing the citizenry with the essential facilities to make life meaningful and here we have some unscrupulous elements busy Vandalizing this National Assets for their selfish interests, this must have to stop.”
Odumosu warned criminally minded elements to desist from sabotaging government efforts or face the full weight of the law, stating, “We are here to serve our father’s land, we have the responsibility to protect manhole covers, telecommunication masts and their accessories, water pipelines and other Critical National Assets provided by government to make life meaningful for the people of the FCT and we cannot renege in our efforts to actualize these all important National assignment.”
The suspects were identified as:
1. Istifani Stephen, 43, from Adamawa state
2. Samson Danladi, 29, from Kaduna state
3. Yakubu Thankgod, 35, from Gombe state
4. Barnabas Sobok, 25, from Gombe state
5. Zayyanu Muhammad, 21, from Sokoto state
6. Sani Wakilli, 55, from Jigawa state
7. Usman Dankastina, 38, from Katsina state
8. Abdulahi Saidu, 31, from Katsina state
9. Ibrahim Haruna, 32, from Katsina state
10. Sambo Abraham, 34, from Plateau state
11. Umar Suleiman, 13, from Zamfara state
12. Musa Ibrahim, 20, from Kaduna state
Exhibits recovered from the suspects included armoured cables, telecommunication mast accessories, shovels, daggers, axes, and pieces of galvanized iron rods.
The FCT Commandant urged residents to assist the Corps with vital intelligence information to help them deliver on their mandate.
