Panic in Edo as residents flee following reported Fulani herdsmen invasion

Panic has gripped parts of Edo State as residents flee their homes over reports of an alleged invasion by Fulani herdsmen moving from the Iyerekhu community toward Odame.
A video currently circulating on social media shows frightened locals hastily evacuating, citing security concerns. The atmosphere in affected communities is tense, as many fear a repeat of recent violence in the region.
The panic is believed to be linked to an incident that occurred weeks ago in Edo State, where a group of Hausa men, allegedly en route to celebrate Ramadan, were attacked and set ablaze by some residents who suspected them of being terrorists.
Adding to the anxiety is the growing wave of insecurity in neighboring Benue State, where attacks by suspected herdsmen have left scores dead and many communities in mourning. For months, reports of killings and displacement have become a near-daily occurrence in the state.
Local authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation in Iyerekhu and Odame, but residents are calling on security agencies to intervene promptly and restore calm before the crisis escalates.
