Police arrest tricycle rider in connection with r@pe, theft in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against crime by arresting suspects involved in heinous offenses.
In a statement issued by SP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Yobe State Command, it was revealed that a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by Idriss Yakubu, a 25-year-old commercial tricycle rider from Shengele Village in Fune LGA.
According to the statement, the suspect lured the victim into a bush and forcibly raped her. During police interrogation following his arrest, Yakubu confessed to the crime.
The statement further noted,”In a separate incident,four suspects were apprehended by the Divisional Police Headquarters for criminal conspiracy, theft, and related offenses.
“The suspects identified as Abubakar Barnawa (28), Mohd Modu (20), Umar Mustapha (18), and Musa Hassan (19)—allegedly used a tricycle with a falsified registration number to conceal their identities and evade arrest.
“They were detained following a swift response to a trader’s report of fraud. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will face prosecution upon completion.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, condemned the crimes and urged community members to report suspicious individuals among commercial drivers and tricycle riders to the authorities.
He assured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice and emphasized that criminal acts targeting the community will be met with stringent legal action.
The Yobe State Police Command reiterated its call for citizens to report crimes promptly and reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding lives and property.
