Reactions as man storms pastor’s office with police over N1M transfer error

A 2023 video has resurfaced online in 2025, reigniting public debate after it captured a dramatic moment when a man stormed a pastor’s office with police officers to demand a refund of N1 million mistakenly transferred to the church.
The video, currently making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), shows the aggrieved man confronting the clergyman, claiming he had intended to send N100,000 as an offering but accidentally transferred N1 million instead.
According to reports, efforts to resolve the matter amicably failed when the pastor allegedly refused to return the excess funds. The man, determined to retrieve the money, involved the police and visited the church premises to demand justice.
In the footage, the pastor appears unfazed, telling the man and officers, “Go to court and collect it. This is a spiritual matter.”
The clip has since created outrage online, with many questioning the ethical and moral stance of the religious leader. While some netizens sympathize with the man’s plight, others argue that financial transactions, even in religious settings, should be treated with transparency and accountability.
Read some netizens’ reactions below;
@john: But tbh, the pastor is not obliged to return the money and in a fair trial the man would lose.
@fabulous: That so called pastor is a criminal and is even attempting to cite biblical passages to justify his fraudulent behavior. oh chim
@jerry Francis: If he said he made an error by sending 1m,blindly do the needful by returning back his money. It’s very simple. This drama is uncalled for
@osita31136: This happen 2years back .. all we have in this country are selfish people all over the country
@adasi: I have mistakenly sent more than I wanted to my church account, and immidiately I called my pastor, and informed him, and because he doesn’t have access to the church account, he refunded me from his own account.
