A new era has begun at Real Madrid. On Monday, Real Madrid began their preparations for the Club World Cup with Xabi Alonso at the helm. The Tolosa native led his first training session with eleven members of the first team squad and ten academy players in attendance.
As well as carrying out the session, the coach also held several meetings at the Valdebebas training complex which meant he spent 11 hours at the Ciudad Deportiva. It was an intensive day that began at 07:30 in the morning, when he entered the facilities with his vehicle.
Xabi Alonso began his work much earlier and got to know first-hand each and every one of the departments that make up the first team. He also spoke at length with all his staff to prepare what was to be the dynamic of the training session.
It wasn’t until 11:00 when he took to the pitch of one of the pitches to begin practice. The coach was very active at all times and even took part in a series of exercises with the players, who did a lot of physical work.
Courtois, Carvajal, Alaba, Militao and Brahim completed a part of the session with the group, while Fede Valverde, who has lumbosciatica, remained in the gym. Meanwhile, the injured Rudiger, Mendy, Endrick and Camavinga continue with their respective recovery processes. Lucas Vazquez, Fran Garcia, Ceballos, Rodrygo and Asencio were the five first-team players who completed the session.
Despite being satisfied with the training session, the Tolosa-born player extended his presence at Valdebebas until 18:30. It was a full day for Xabi Alonso, whose debut in charge of the ‘Merengue’ bench will take place on Wednesday 18th June against Al Hilal, in the first matchday of Group H of the Club World Cup.
