Shehu Sani reacts to El-Rufai’s defection to SDP with cryptic message

Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the defection of ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), using a cryptic biblical-like reference to describe the situation.
Taking to social media, Sani wrote:
“He callously evicted us from our homes and sent us to the forest, and our Lord has evicted him from his home and sent him to the wilderness. Our Lord’s 5G Judgment.”
The former lawmaker’s statement appears to be a direct reference to El-Rufai’s controversial demolitions and forced evictions during his tenure as Kaduna governor, which displaced many residents. Sani, a longtime critic of the former governor, has previously accused him of high-handedness and authoritarian policies.
El-Rufai’s sudden defection to the SDP comes amid reports of his strained relationship with President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership. His move has sent the social media community on frenzy, with many speculating about his next steps ahead of the 2027 elections.
As of now, El-Rufai has not publicly responded to Sani’s remarks.
