Tragedy as 4 die in Ibadan multi-vehicle crash

About four people have reportedly lost their lives in a road accident that occured on Tuesday, following a fatal multiple-vehicle accident along the Soka axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The horrifying crash involved four trailers, four commercial Micra cars, and a Toyota Camry, causing chaos and heavy traffic gridlock in the area.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the accident occurred when a trailer attempted to reverse out of an abandoned filling station near Soka. Another oncoming trailer collided with it, triggering a chain reaction as three other trailers behind reportedly trailing too closely rammed into the pile-up. In the process, four Micra cars and a Toyota Camry were caught in the carnage.
One of the Micra cars was completely crushed, resulting in the deaths of four occupants, including the driver.
Among the victims was a woman who had boarded the Micra alongside her husband at the Sanyo bus stop, just minutes before the crash. She died instantly, while her husband, who was seated in the front passenger seat, miraculously survived with minor injuries.
Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency care.
Officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) responded swiftly to the incident, evacuating the remains of the deceased and working to clear the wreckage from the expressway.
Tuesday’s crash marks the sixth fatal accident reported along the Soka stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in 2025 alone.
