Tragedy as medical doctor dies days after tweeting about exhaustion

A young South African dental surgeon, Dr. Ncumisa Mdlocolo, has tragically passed away just days after expressing her extreme exhaustion on social media.
Dr. Mdlocolo, who fulfilled her dream of becoming a doctor in December 2020, had shared her struggles with fatigue in a tweet on January 28, 2025.
“I’m so exhausted. Feels like I’m going to pass away, but I also want to read. Ndithini?” she wrote.

A concerned friend advised her to rest, to which she responded, “Ewe, I’m exhausted.”

Sadly, just four days later, on February 1, 2025, she was confirmed dead.
Her sudden passing has left friends, colleagues, and social media users heartbroken, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to mourn her loss and reflect on the intense pressure faced by medical professionals.
