Updated: Abuja based gospel singer arrested for allegedly beheading girlfriend

Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, a popular Abuja-based gospel singer and fitness enthusiast, has been arrested after being found in possession of a severed human head believed to be that of his girlfriend.
The shocking incident unfolded on Sunday near a church in the Orozo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Videos circulating on social media showed the suspect, known for his musical talent and inspirational performances, carrying a black nylon bag with flies hovering around it. He was intercepted by vigilant locals who searched the bag and discovered the gruesome contents.
A social media user, identified as Arike, shared her firsthand experience of the horrific scene, stating:
“I got the shock of my life as we apprehended a Yahoo ritualist carrying a human head (his girlfriend’s) in a nylon close to our church during service. I used to think things like this only happen in movies until I witnessed it live today.”
In the video, Timileyin, originally from Kabba, Kogi State, reportedly admitted to dating the deceased woman for a year but claimed he did not know her place of origin. He alleged that a violent argument led to the fatal encounter, during which the woman purportedly attempted to stab him before he retaliated by beheading her.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, while the case has drawn widespread calls for thorough investigations and justice for the victim.
This tragic development has cast a dark shadow over the gospel music scene, where Timileyin was previously celebrated as a prolific songwriter and recording artiste known for his powerful vocal performances.
