UTME 2025: Mmesoma Ejikeme trends again as Nigerians accuse JAMB of manipulating 2023 result

Mmesoma Ejikeme, the Anambra student who made headlines in 2023 after being accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of forging her UTME result, is back in the spotlight and this time, Nigerians believe she may have been wrongly accused.

The renewed attention comes after JAMB recently admitted to experiencing technical glitches during the 2025 UTME, which affected the scores of a significant number of candidates. Following public outcry, the exam body announced that fresh dates would be set for affected students to retake the test, indirectly confirming that errors did occur in the scoring process.

This admission has led to a wave of reactions across social media, with many Nigerians now pointing fingers back at the 2023 controversy surrounding Mmesoma. At the time, the young student had gone viral after reportedly scoring 362 out of 400, positioning her among the highest scorers in the country. However, JAMB swiftly refuted the result, labeling it as fake and slamming Mmesoma with a three-year ban from taking the exam.

Now, many are demanding justice, claiming Mmesoma has been vindicated.

However, the only question on everyone’s lips is “If JAMB can admit to glitches in 2025, what makes them so sure Mmesoma didn’t suffer the same thing in 2023?”.

At the center of both controversies is Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who served as JAMB Registrar during the 2023 scandal and remains in office.

As at press time, JAMB has not commented on the renewed calls for an apology or a review of Mmesoma’s case. But the debate is raging, and for many Nigerians, the question remains: Was Mmesoma Ejikeme wrongly accused all along?
