Van Dijk speaks on Alexander-Arnold’s future

As uncertainty continues to surround Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk has admitted the dressing room remains in the dark about whether the full-back will stay beyond this summer.
While Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have both committed to new deals until 2027, Alexander-Arnold has yet to renew, with Real Madrid reportedly pushing hard for his services.
Speaking after Liverpool’s latest fixture, the Dutchman paid tribute to his long-time teammate, calling him a “fantastic, fantastic player” and suggesting that, should he decide to leave, he will be remembered for his many contributions.
“We don’t know as a group what’s going to happen,” Van Dijk added, underlining the ongoing speculation surrounding the 26-year-old.
Yet with his contract expiring in 2025 and no extension agreed, the pull of Real Madrid—particularly after the success of fellow Englishman Jude Bellingham—has become increasingly difficult to ignore.
His situation stands out, and unless a breakthrough is reached soon, one of Anfield’s modern icons could be the next big name to test himself abroad.
