Verydarkman slams pastor over threat to arrest bloggers

Popular Nigerian activist, Verydarkman, has publicly called out renowned cleric Pastor David Ibiyeomie after the pastor threatened to arrest bloggers and media outlets reporting on him and his ministry.
In a viral video that made rounds recently, the founder of Salvation Ministries was seen issuing a stern warning to content creators, bloggers, and news writers, instructing them to desist from mentioning his name or church in their reports. The pastor’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms.
Responding to the statement, Verydarkman took to his social media page to challenge Pastor Ibiyeomie, accusing him of attempting to use his influence to silence public discourse and press freedom.
He strongly criticized the idea of using the police to intimidate or arrest people for simply expressing their views or sharing news online, saying such actions are a form of oppression.
“I know you travel around the world. Have you seen anybody using the police to lock up people for talking? That means you’re using your influence to oppress people. You can’t try this abroad because police over there will investigate, not act on command,” he said.
The outspoken activist went on to say that religious leaders like Ibiyeomie contribute to the problems in Nigeria by promoting authoritarian behavior.
“Even pastors are part of why this country is spoiled, but people don’t understand what I mean. Nobody dey fear you. Who are you that we will fear? You’re not God, you’re just a human being,” he added.
