Wike increases band’s wage during project commissioning

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stirred laughter and applause after announcing a wage increase for his live band musicians during the commissioning of a Chinese-executed road project.
In a video currently making the rounds on social media, Wike is seen addressing a large crowd at the event when he paused to commend his band for singing a song in Chinese, a gesture many interpreted as a nod to the project’s international partnership.
“Now that my musicians have started singing in Chinese,” Wike declared with a smile, “their wage will be increased.” His remark drew loud cheers and laughter from the audience.
The band immediately followed up with a lively rendition of the classic tune, “Agreement na agreement o,” further energizing the crowd.
Wike, who has become known for his dramatic public speeches and his love for live music at official events, often uses musical interludes to lighten the mood and connect with the public. His band frequently tailors their performances to suit the occasion and this time, the Chinese-themed performance struck a chord.
The light-hearted moment comes amid Wike’s continued inspection and commissioning of major infrastructure projects across the capital territory.
Netizens have since reacted to the video, with many applauding the band’s creativity and Wike’s humorous leadership style.
