2027: Dele Farotimi declares support for Peter Obi

Legal practitioner and political analyst, Dele Farotimi, has declared that he would vote for Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, if fresh elections were held today in Nigeria.
Farotimi made the statement during an appearance on Sunday Politics aired on Channels Television, where he was a guest of anchor Seun Okinbaloye.
“If elections are held today where our votes will count, I will vote for Peter Gregory Obi unless somebody comes into the race that I think can do better,” he said.
When pressed further on his stance, Farotimi doubled down on his support for Obi, citing his competence and integrity in comparison to other prominent political figures.
“In terms of capacity, there is nobody else. Are mine supposed to vote for BULABA or queue behind Atiku?” he asked rhetorically, using the satirical nickname “Bulaba” to refer to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a term that went viral following a campaign gaffe in 2022.
He added that the only reason he might reconsider his support for Obi would be if the former Anambra State governor were to ally with questionable political elements.
“The only thing that will make me not vote for him is if he joins hands with very questionable people,” Farotimi emphasized.
His comments have gone viral online, especially among supporters of the Obidient movement, who see his remarks as a reinforcement of Obi’s enduring appeal amid growing public disillusionment with the current administration.
