2Face Idibia breaks silence, tells side of story on split from Annie

Nigerian music legend, Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has finally opened up about his separation from his estranged wife, Annie Macaulay-Idibia, describing his experience in the marriage as a form of bondage.

The “African Queen” hitmaker made the revelation in a snippet from an upcoming episode of the +234 Mzansi Podcast, co-hosted by Nigerian comedians Nedu and Acapella, alongside South African media personality Kifilwe.

In the clip making rounds online, 2Face didn’t hold back his emotions, hinting at the turmoil he faced while in the marriage.

“This thing wey dem call ‘living in bondage’ is real. There were some people who were ready to kill me,” he said in response to questions surrounding the highly publicized end of his marriage.

Tuface and Annie had tied the knot in May 2012 after years of dating. The union produced two daughters, Isabella and Olivia. However, their relationship was repeatedly rocked by controversies, ranging from infidelity allegations to emotional outbursts on social media.

The singer officially announced their separation on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in a post that stirred reactions from fans and followers alike.

Shortly after going public with the breakup, 2Face began flaunting his new partner, Natasha Osawuru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. The relationship quickly progressed, and the couple held a traditional wedding ceremony in Benue State, which was reportedly attended by close family members and 2Face’s kinsmen.

Meanwhile, Annie has remained relatively silent about the developments.
