My husband won’t contest for presidency in 2027 – Patience Jonathan

The wife of the former president of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan has firmly stated that her husband, Goodluck Jonathan will not contest for the presidency in the 2027 elections.
During a recent visit by the Greater Igbo Forum (GIF) Worldwide in Abuja, Dame Jonathan clarified that her husband, having held numerous significant political positions—local government chairman, deputy governor, governor, vice president, and president—has no further political ambitions.
She stated that her husband is committed to supporting the current president and fostering national unity.
“My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again,” she said.
Dame Jonathan expressed her belief in supporting the current administration for the sake of national peace and progress.
She also called on the Igbo people to unite and focus on the collective good rather than personal or political differences.
“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.
She also urged the Igbo community to set aside politics and work towards unity and development.
Her words: “Let us manage one another. Let us love ourselves. Let us be united and be our brother’s keepers.”
