Husband files lawsuit against Jigawa commissioner over alleged infidelity with wife

Nasir Buba, the husband of a woman allegedly caught with the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Awwal Danladi Sankara, has taken legal action, dragging the embattled commissioner before a Sharia Court in Kano.
The controversy erupted after Hisbah operatives arrested Sankara and a married woman in an uncompleted building on Friday, following an “intense surveillance” operation triggered by a formal complaint from Buba. In response to the scandal, Governor Umar Namadi swiftly suspended Sankara from office pending the outcome of investigations.
Buba, represented by his lawyer, Haruna Magashi, formally requested the court to investigate Sankara for what he described as “inappropriate and immoral acts” with his wife. “The complainant, Alhaji Nasir Buba, has submitted a formal complaint to this court, alleging that he suspects Awwal Sankara of committing an offence. He, therefore, wants the matter thoroughly investigated,” Magashi stated.
However, Sankara’s defense counsel, Shehu Sadam, clarified that the criminal complaint was filed directly by the husband, not by Hisbah as some reports had suggested. “There has been much misinformation on social media, suggesting that the Kano State Hisbah Board initiated this case. In reality, the complainant is Alhaji Nasir Buba,” Sadam said. “We were present in court today on behalf of our client.”
Neither Sankara nor the married woman appeared in court during the session. The presiding judge, Khadi Abdullahi Sarki Yola, is expected to hear the case on Tuesday.
This ongoing case has attracted public attention, particularly due to the involvement of high-profile figures and the potential moral implications in a conservative region like Kano.
