AGF debunks rumors of salary account change directive

The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Oluwatoyin Madein, has dispelled rumors circulating that workers were instructed to change their registered salary accounts.
In an official statement issued by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), Mrs. Madein clarified that the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) office did not issue any directive mandating such changes.
Responding to viral reports suggesting that employees were advised to switch financial institutions on the IPPIS platform, the AGF stated that the IPPIS prioritizes employees’ well-being and would never mislead, misinform, or create unnecessary concern among workers. She emphasized that changing a salary account on the platform is always a personal choice initiated by the worker involved.
“The IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to this effect as there is no reason to do so,” Mrs. Madein said.
Additionally, she urged financial institutions to foster customer confidence by consistently meeting their financial commitments to workers whose salaries are processed through them. Mrs. Madein stressed that specific regulatory agencies are responsible for overseeing the health and stability of financial institutions, expressing confidence in their ability to fulfill these responsibilities.
Mrs. Madein further advised workers with legitimate reasons to switch their salary accounts on the IPPIS platform to adhere to established procedures when making such changes.
This clarification comes as the AGF seeks to reassure public sector workers amid concerns surrounding account stability and payroll processing.
