Elon Musk’s daughter sets to leave U.S. amid Trump’s potential return

Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s transgender daughter, has announced plans to leave the United States, following Donald Trump’s recent election victory.
Wilson voiced her decision in a statement posted on Threads Wednesday, sharing her belief that the U.S. is no longer a welcoming place for transgender individuals under Trump’s potential administration.
“I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me,” Wilson wrote. “I don’t see my future being in the United States.” She expressed concern over the direction the country may take, adding, “Even if [Trump’s term] is only four years, even if anti-trans policies don’t materialize, the people who voted for this are not going anywhere anytime soon.”
Comments under Wilson’s post were mixed, with some offering reassurance and others cautioning her to carefully consider relocating.
Wilson, one of Musk’s twin children with his first wife, author Justine Musk, has long been estranged from her father. Their troubled relationship, which Wilson has described as one filled with absence and lack of acceptance, reportedly came to a breaking point in 2022 when she legally changed her name and cut ties with Musk entirely. Musk, in turn, has described Wilson as a “communist” who sees wealth as inherently evil.
Although she rarely speaks publicly, Wilson has voiced criticism over Musk’s more controversial statements. For example, she publicly condemned Musk’s infamous comment about Taylor Swift after she endorsed Kamala Harris for president, calling his words “heinous incel nonsense.”
The Musk family’s strained dynamics continue to attract public interest, particularly as Elon Musk takes a more vocal role in U.S. politics.
