Leicester City sack manager over poor performance

Leicester City Football Club has announced the dismissal of first-team manager Steve Cooper after just five months at the helm.
The decision comes on the heels of a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea, leaving the Foxes perilously close to the Premier League relegation zone.
The 44-year-old tactician, who joined Leicester in June on a three-year deal, was shown the door following a five-game winless streak in all competitions. Leicester has managed only two wins in 12 league games this season and conceded 14 goals in their last five outings, placing them 16th on the Premier League table, just two points above the drop zone.
In an official statement, Leicester City expressed gratitude to Cooper and his staff while signaling an urgent need for change:
“Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as first-team manager with immediate effect.
Assistant manager Alan Tate and first-team coach and analyst Steve Rands have also left the club. Steve, Alan, and Steve depart with our thanks for their contribution during their time with the club and with our best wishes for the future.”

For the time being, first-team coach Ben Dawson will take over training responsibilities, supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, as the club begins the search for a new manager. Leicester’s management emphasized their intent to finalize the appointment process swiftly.
Cooper’s stint at Leicester marked a short-lived chapter following his successful tenure at Nottingham Forest, where he earned praise for leading the club to Premier League promotion. However, his time at Leicester failed to replicate similar success, leaving the club in a precarious position as they seek stability in the league.
Leicester fans will now eagerly await the announcement of Cooper’s successor, hoping for a turnaround in fortunes.
