Inuwa, CSOs celebrate Alhassan’s emergence as NUJ national president


Gombe State governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahya on his election as the national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Alhassan who hails from Gombe State was elected as the new NUJ president on Wednesday during the 8th delegates conference of the union held in Owerri, Imo State.
Governor Inuwa in a press release by his media aide, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, expressed profound joy over Alhassan’s resounding victory, describing it as a remarkable achievement and a source of immense pride for the state and the entire journalism community.
“From your humble beginning at the chapel level to your stellar service at the state, zonal, and national levels, you have consistently demonstrated unmatched courage, integrity and passion for the cause of journalism and the welfare of journalists.”, he said.
Also, civil society organisations in the state under the umbrella of ‘Gombe Network of Civil Society (GONET), extend warmest congratulations to the new NUJ president.
In a letter of congratulation issued by its chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf, GONET said it is open to collaborating with the NUJ at both the state and national levels to achieve shared goals of promoting good governance, civic engagement and sustainable development.
“We believe that through collaboration, we can amplify the voices of marginalised communities and accelerate the realisation of our collective aspirations for a better Nigeria.”, he said.
