Breaking: FG jerks up electricity tariff

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has mandated an immediate upward review of electricity tariffs nationwide.
The increase is to commence on Wednesday 3 April.
This was revealed by NERC Vice Chairman Musiliu Oseni on Wednesday during a news conference in Abuja.
According to Mr Oseni, the new cost will only apply to those who make up 15% of the population yet use 40% of the country’s electricity.
Recall that NERC had said in January, that the Nigerian government will pay as much as N1.6 trillion to subsidise electricity in the year 2024.
