Kenneth Okonkwo reacts to Dele Farotimi’s detention

As human rights lawyer and activist, Dele Farotimi remains in prison custody over a defamation case involving legal luminary Afe Babalola, Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has issued a stern warning, calling for Farotimi’s safety to be prioritized.
In a passionate post shared on his Instagram page, Okonkwo expressed concerns about Farotimi’s well-being and cautioned authorities against any harm coming to him while in detention.
“NOTHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO DELE FAROTIMI IN PRISON,” Okonkwo began. “Now that Dele Farotimi is standing firm on the purported defamation matter, his life must be protected at all costs. Nobody should come and tell us he had a cardiac arrest or that something happened to him after a brief illness.”
Okonkwo highlighted that Farotimi was in good health at the time of his arrest and insisted that the government, which he described as wealthier than Farotimi, must ensure he remains in better health upon his release.
“The authorities must recognize that the whole world is watching. They have chosen the legal option and must not resort to any underhanded tactics. Let the law run its full course,” he added.
The actor-politician speculated that the case might ultimately be resolved through other means if Farotimi continues to resist alleged intimidation. However, he emphasized that the current legal process must be respected, and no harm should befall the embattled lawyer.
