Buhari mourns Uniabuja ex-VC


Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Nuhu Omeiza Yaqub, OFR, a distinguished political scientist and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja.
In a heartfelt tribute, Buhari described the late academic as a “towering intellectual giant” whose contributions to teaching and research profoundly shaped Nigeria’s educational landscape.
Professor Yaqub, who also served as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, was widely respected for his impactful academic career and expertise in public policy.
A statement issued by Buhari’s spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, quoted the former president as saying:
“I have known him for many years as a towering scholar whose knowledge, passion, and insights on public policy were taken very seriously by serious administrators. He was a scholar par excellence. May Allah grant him Aljannah.”
The late Professor Yaqub’s passing marks the end of an illustrious era in Nigeria’s academic circles, and his legacy will be remembered by colleagues, students, and the nation at large.
