Aiyedatiwa imposes curfew following Owo cult clash

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Owo after violent cult clashes claimed multiple lives, plunging the community into turmoil.
The violence, which escalated earlier this week, left residents in fear and disrupted normalcy in the ancient town.
Among the victims of the deadly unrest was Fisayo Oladipo, a prominent youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) popularly known as “Fissy.” He was reportedly trailed by suspected cultists from a nightclub before being gunned down outside his residence in the Ehin-Ogbe area on Monday morning.
In addition to Oladipo’s death, the bodies of two unidentified young men were discovered on a roadside, further deepening the tragedy that has shocked the community. Security agencies have linked the incidents to clashes between rival cult groups vying for supremacy.
In a bid to restore order, the governor announced a curfew effective immediately, restricting movement from dusk till dawn. Essential workers, including medical personnel and emergency responders, are exempted from the curfew.
Governor Aiyedatiwa also directed security operatives to deploy all necessary resources to safeguard lives and properties while pursuing those responsible for the attacks. “We will ensure peace returns to Owo, and no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice,” he stated.
A heavy security presence has since calmed tensions, while investigations into the killings continue.
