IGP unveils New Year Strategic Action Plan to enhance public safety

In a proactive move to bolster public safety and operational efficiency, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a comprehensive directive outlining a New Year Strategic Action Plan.
The plan aims to reduce crime and improve law enforcement effectiveness across the country.
The IGP emphasized the importance of strategic planning, statistical analysis, and proactive policing in addressing crime and criminality. Recent assessments indicate a need for increased vigilance, attitudinal change, and proactive law enforcement measures nationwide.
The Action Plan includes several initiatives designed to strengthen the police force, improve community relations, and reduce crime drastically in the first quarter of 2025.
To achieve these goals, officers are directed to engage in intelligence-led policing, training and capacity building, public awareness campaigns, and strengthening commitment to public safety.
The IGP has called upon all officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, continually adapting their strategies to meet evolving public safety challenges.
In furtherance of the directive, the IGP will meet with Strategic Commanders virtually on Monday, January 13, 2025, to ensure effective implementation of the Action Plan.
