Nigerian popular musician marries 3-wives in a day

Renowned Delta State-based highlife musician, Arube Otor, popularly known as Isoko Fela One, has made headlines after marrying three brides in a grand ceremony at the Anglican Church Field, London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The celebrated founder of the Aruba Dance Band, known for his significant contributions to Isoko Highlife music, captured public attention earlier this month when his pre-wedding flyer featuring all three brides went viral.
In a colorful display of cultural heritage, Arube and his brides—Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro—graced the occasion in matching traditional attire complemented by white caps with black accents. The elaborate celebration included live musical performances by the groom himself and cultural rituals such as the symbolic presentation of kola nuts to the brides’ families, symbolizing unity and fertility.
Emperor Efih, Arube’s foster son, explained that the decision to hold a joint wedding was a cost-effective choice. He revealed that the brides come from various parts of Delta State—Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East, Oruamudhu Ozoro in Isoko North, and Uroto Quarter in Ozoro Kingdom.
Efih also disclosed that Arube originally planned to marry four women, but one opted out for personal reasons. The groom had already completed the traditional marriage rites for all three brides about a year earlier on the same day. Two of the women have children with him, while the third has yet to bear a child.
The polygamous union marks a significant chapter in Arube’s personal life, as he previously married two women two decades ago—one of whom later divorced him.
With over 10 albums to his name, Arube remains a towering figure in the highlife music scene, known for his dynamic performances and passion for preserving Isoko cultural traditions. His latest marital milestone has further solidified his legacy as a cultural icon.
