Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd.) has taken over as the Secretary to the Civil Defence Correctional Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The handover ceremony, which marked the end of Alh. Ja’afaru Ahmed’s tenure, took place at the board headquarters on February 3, 2025.
Outgoing Board Secretary Ja’afaru Ahmed expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, highlighting his achievements during his tenure.
He secured presidential approval for several reforms, including the independence of the Board Secretariat, which enables the board to recruit its own staff. Ja’afaru urged staff to support the incoming secretary, ensuring a seamless transition.
Incoming Secretary Jibrin thanked President Tinubu and pledged to build on the reforms initiated by his predecessor. He assured staff of his commitment to their welfare and the board’s progress.
The Chairman of the Board Union, Comrade Gbadamasi Saheed, thanked Ja’afaru for his leadership and pledged support for Jibrin’s tenure. The Minister of Interior/Chairman of the Board, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, played a crucial role in facilitating the transition.
Jibrin’s appointment marks a new chapter for the CDCFIB, and his experience as a retired major general is expected to bring valuable insights to the role.
